TAMPA, Fla. – Yesterday, Senator Ashley Moody joined the Florida Farm Bureau Federation for a teletown hall to hear directly from Florida farmers, ranchers, and growers about the challenges facing the state’s agriculture industry and discussing her work in the U.S. Senate on their behalf.
Senator Ashley Moody said, “Florida’s farmers feed not only our Sunshine State, but our nation, and they deserve a partner in the Senate who understands what they’re up against. It was great to hear directly from Florida Farm Bureau members today and to update them on my work. I’ll keep fighting to cut the red tape and outdated regulations standing between our growers and their success.”
Senator Moody has made supporting Florida’s agriculture community a cornerstone of her time in the Senate. She has introduced the Defending Domestic Orange Juice Production Act to modernize outdated 1960s standards, and the bipartisan Land Grant Research Prioritization Act to direct USDA research funding toward precision agriculture technology to help growers cut costs and boost yields in the face of hurricanes, freezes, and droughts. Senator Moody’s commitment to addressing the challenges our farmers face today also led to her introduction of the Temperature Event Mitigation Policy (TEMP) Act alongside Congressman Scott Franklin, which directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to research and develop affordable crop-insurance options for farmers experiencing losses caused by cold exposures and freezes.
